This is a special tour that focusses on the Indian Mutiny – an opportunity to explore the critical periods in the Indian history. It stresses on the impact of the British Empire and the rising of 1857. The Indian Mutiny India holiday is a perfect opportunity to have the cultural experience. It gives you the entry to the Indian tourist sites that are rarely seen.
At the same time, we will also be exploring the enchanting Mughal architecture – palaces and gardens. In this tour, we will also be staying in some of the best 5-star hotels in India like the colonial Oberoi Maidens Hotel in Delhi, the Oberoi Trident in Agra the Taj Gomti Nagar in Lucknow and much more. Along with diving into the stark history of the Indian Mutiny, we will also be induging in delicious Indian food and experience the colour and the flavour of the multi-racial Indian culture.
It all started in 1857 . There were sixty two well-trained infantry battalions and eight cavalry regiments of the Bengal Army fought and turned on their British officers. The Indian Mutiny was sparked off by the fact that new cartridges issued to the troops were believed to be greased with fat from cows and pigs. Later, the soldiers were joined by civilians.
The Indian Mutiny Route: Delhi – Agra – Gwalior – Orchha – Kanpur – Lucknow – Mumbai

After breakfast, we will proceed for the full day city tour of Old & New Delhi that includes a visit to the 17th century Jama Masjid. You will also be taking a normal rickshaw ride through the narrow, winding lanes of colourful and bustling Chandni Chowk. Visit the Red Fort followed by Raj Ghat where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated. In the afternoon proceed to New Delhi where you will be taken for the Drive past of The Presidential Palace, the India Gate, a memorial raised and a drive along the Rajpath
past the Parliament House and secretarial buildings.
Later in the afternoon, we will also visit the unique Rail Museum that fascinating and exotic collection of over 100 real size exhibits of Indian Railways. Afterwards visit Qutab Minar, the 12th-century tower of victory built by a slave king. The evening is at leisure.
Today, after breakfast, we will proceed for a full-day excursion to Meerut. This is the city that witnessed the
first serious outbreak of the Indian Mutiny. The tour starts with St. John’s Church which was the heavy fighting scene for the rebels and the British forces. Also, take a tour of the cemetery behind the Church and visit the parade grounds in the cantonment area.
Today, we will leave for Agra through the 4 lanes Express Highway. This was once a small village on the banks of the Yamuna and then transformed by the great Mughal emperors – Akbar and his grandson Shah Jehan. Later we will visit the Taj Mahal which surely needs no introduction.
Volunteer visit to Sheroes Hang out Café for this is a cafe managed by the brave acid attack survivors.
Today, we will spend a day in Agra and take the sightseeing tour that covers Agra Fort and Itmad ud Duala, which is also popularly known as Baby Taj. Agra Fort was originally started by Emperor Akbar in 1565. Itmad Ud Duala was built in 1622 for Ghiyas Beg, father of Empress Noor-Jahan, the wife of Emperor Jahangir.
The rest of the day is leisure.
Kachpura Heritage Walk: We will take a walk through the narrow bridle path through agriculture fields near Mehtab Bagh to the ancient village of Kachpura and Humayun’s Mosque.
Agra by Night: This is an experiential tour by the Night that covers the famous sights, narrating their history and highlighting their
significance from the city’s past to its present. We will also be spending time with a local Indian family.
We will start our ride to Gwalior after breakfast at the hotel. Welcome to the city which was most affected by the Revolt of 1857. This was one of the centres for the revolt that happened between the British and the rebels.
In the afternoon, we will proceed for the city tour covering Gwalior Fort, Palace Museum and the Statue of Rani of Jhansi in the Lushkar district of the city. Later in the evening, we will watch the sound & light show at the Gwalior Fort that will give you a glimpse into the history of Gwalior.
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be driving to Orchha. On the way, we will stop for a city tour of Jhansi that includes Jhansi Fort and Rani Mahal. We will also be visiting Jokun Bagh where 67 British men, women and children were massacred.
Later, in the evening, we will be driving to Orchha for the next day.
In the morning, we will proceed for a sightseeing tour Orchha that includes the most beautiful sights like Orchha fort and Cenotaphs. In the afternoon, the day is at leisure. In the evening, we will visit the Raja Ram temple to attend the famous evening aarti.
In the morning, we will carry packed breakfast for our drive to Jhansi railway station. You will be taking the train to Kanpur today.
After you, check-in and relax at the hotel, we will proceed for the afternoon visit to Wheeler’s Entrenchment inside the Cantonment and the adjacent All Souls Church with brass memorials to some of the central victims and survivors of the massacres. We will also be exploring the series of marble panels engraved with more than a thousand victims’ names. We will also be visiting the famous Memorial Park and the Hanging Tree.
In the morning, we will have breakfast at the hotel and proceed for the half-day excursion to Bithur – a small town near Kanpur. In Bithur, we will be visiting ruins of the fort and of course the temples in this place that date back to the birth of earth “it is said”.
We will then be driving back to Kanpur for lunch and thereafter drive to Lucknow. Enroute stop at Kothi Alambagh to pay homage to Sir Henry Havelock at his tomb.
Today, after breakfast, we will proceed for a city tour of Lucknow including the visit to Asifi Imambara, Rumi Darwaza also known as the Turkish Gate and the Asfi Mosque.
Later we will board Tonga’s (horse carriages) to reach from Husainabad Complex to the Clock Tower – highest in Asia. Now enter the Babylon of East, Husainabad Imambara – known for its beauty and pieces of décor.
Today after a leisurely breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Mumbai. Mumbai is a city of dreams and its undying spirit is what attracts travellers from all over the world.

Today we will take a half-day city tour of Mumbai that includes the Prince of Wales Museum, driving past Marine Drive, the Kamla Nehru Park and Hanging Gardens on the slopes of the Malabar hills and Chowpatty beach. We will also be visiting the Jain temples, Mani Bhawan and Dhobi Ghat, the famous laundry business site. We will also be driving past Flora Fountain, the colourful Crawford Market and Victoria Terminus train station.
