3 Hours Before Flight Time
This day you will arrive in Delhi by International flight and you will be getting an assisted transfer to your hotel for the check-in. Rest of the day is at leisure. You may also opt for an optional experience that needs to be pre-booked before the start of your trip
Optional Experience 1: – Cooking Demo with Dinner with an Indian Family. From having a simple meal with the family to a hands-on cooking lesson, this is a great way to spend time in Delhi.
Optional Experience 2: – Private Evening Tour of Akshardham Temple with Musical Fountain Show. Please note that the temple is closed on Monday. Visit the temple, appreciate its splendour, and watch the exceptional musical fountain show to experience Indian faith at its best.
The second-day tour will commence after breakfast. The tour includes Old & New Delhi – the 17th century Jama Masjid, a rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk, the magnificent Red Fort, Raj Ghat, which is Mahatma Gandhi’s crematory site. Later in the afternoon, we will be driving past The Presidential Palace, which also served as the residence of the British viceroys during imperialism, and India Gate, a memorial of the Indian soldiers. We will also drive along the Rajpath and secretarial buildings. Except for Mondays, visit the Rail Museum that houses a fascinating and exotic collection of over 100 real size exhibits of Indian Railways. Afterwards visit Qutab Minar, the 12th-century tower of victory built by a slave king. Also visit the 16th century Humayun’s tomb, a precursor to the Taj Mahal. Spend the evening at leisure.
Optional Experience 1: An extensive tour on the cycle rickshaw that covers 20 main sites which include palaces, mansions, elegant shrines and colourful bazaars. This is a detailed tour with several stops and includes complimentary snacks.
Optional Experience 2: Walking Tour that includes unique delights Nizamuddin Basti Walk Late afternoon, walk through Nizamuddin Basti (colony), a medieval settlement where the tomb of the famous 13th century Muslim Sufi Saint Nizamuddin Auliya is located. This tour is conducted by an underprivileged young adult trained by a local NGO. Overnight at Hotel.
You will fly to Leh, capital of the Himalayan Kingdom from Delhi. You shall drive to Thiksey monastery (17 Kms) to witness Morning Prayer session of the resident monks. Thiksey monastery also houses the most beautiful and impressive Maitreya Buddha Statue. Visit Hemis Monastery and start the return journey to Leh, en-route Stok Palace which is the resident of current King of Ladakh, and Shey Palace, which was the erstwhile place of residence of the royal family. Return to the hotel in Leh for dinner. Overnight at Hotel
After breakfast start the journey to Nubra Valley over Khardungla pass – the world’s highest Motorable pass at 18300 Ft. The Nubra Valley, once on the trading route that connected eastern Tibet with Turkistan via the famous Karakoram Pass, is the most recently opened area of Ladakh. Nubra invites you to a trip back in time into a nearly forgotten ‘Shangri La’. With breathtaking views and delightfully hospitable inhabitants, it is quite an experience. Reach Nubra in the afternoon and check into fixed camp. Rest of the day at Leisure Overnight at Camp
After breakfast, we will be exploring Diskit monastery and taking a camel ride at Hunder Sand Dunes. Did you know Ladakh is the only place in India where you can find the double-humped Bactrian camels? Return to the camp for Lunch. Post lunch drive to Ensa Monastery (60 kms / 02 hrs) and Panamik hot springs. Return to the camp in the evening for a session of bonfire and light music, followed by dinner and overnight stay. After breakfast, we will drive to Shey village near Leh (132 Kms / 06 hrs). Here, for the stay, we will check-in to a beautiful village stay. We will be visiting Shey Palace, the erstwhile royal residence of the Ladakh monarchs is the main attraction of Shey. The palace was built by King Deldan Namgyal in 1655 AD. Namgyal also made Shey his summer capital. It offers views of a vast expanse of the surrounding valleys. Currently, the palace serves as a centre of Buddhism and houses the Shey monastery. It has the largest golden Buddha statue and covers almost three floors of the monastery. Painting on the walls, murals and sculptures of Buddha are worth seeing.
After an early breakfast drive Uletokpo (85 Kms / 03 hrs) en-route visiting Spituk Monastery, Magnetic Hill, Likir monastery, which houses one of the biggest open-air statues of Maitreya Buddha. Continue to drive to Uletokpo, with a stopover visit to the 1000 year old Alchi monastery. Arrive Uletokpo at relaxing at the beautiful riverside resort. Transfer to Leh airport for flight to Delhi. Check-in at the airport and board the flight to Delhi. Rest of the day is at leisure.
After breakfast, you will get an assisted transfer to Delhi airport for your flight back to onward destination.
