ARRIVE KOCHI BY INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT
Namaste! Welcome to India! Our representative will meet you in the arrival area of the airport after you clear all immigration and customs formalities. Depart for your hotel where you will check-in for your stay. Kochi, or more familiarly, Cochin is a city of many parts. Around for a long, long time, Kochi played a pivotal role in the development of shipping and trade in the region. Optional – In the evening enjoy a sunset cruise in the Cochin Harbour. See the cantilevered Chinese fishing nets and the beautiful coastline from the motor boat. Overnight at the Hotel
Breakfast is at the hotel. Today, you will proceed to explore the city thoroughly: visit Cochin City. You will first proceed to Mattancherry, where you will visit the oldest Jewish Synagogue in India, built-in 1568. From Jewish Synagogue you will visit Chinese fishing nets. The cantilevered fishing nets line the entrance to the harbour mouth. You will then visit St. Francis Church. You will also be visiting The Dutch Palace at Mattancherry, which was built in 1555 and its coronation hall and murals at Ramayana are noteworthy features. Later enjoy Kerala Kaleidoscope at Greenix Village. A medley of various dances, Kaleidoscope Kerala redefines the intangibly elusive aesthetics of bliss as it evokes the eternally alluring charm of this many-splendour land and it’s infinitely enriching cultural ethos.
Drive to Munnar in private car. After breakfast, drive to Munnar. On arrival check inn at the hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure. Munnar is the nature lover’s paradise. Snuggling in the green and serene Kannan Devan Hills lies the quiet and restful resort of Munnar. Overnight at the Hotel
Proceed to visit the Tea Museum. The Tata Tea Museum diligently portrays the growth of Munnar tea estates, veritably conveyed through some of the displays like the rudimentary tea roller to the modern fully automated tea factory. Late visit Echo point, Mattuppetty dam (No boat ride), photo point etc. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the Hotel
Periyar is South India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary, encompassing an area of 777 sq. km. Set on the attractive man-made Periyar Lake. On arrival in Periyar, proceed to check-in at the hotel. In the evening visit Kalarippayattu show. Kalaripayattu is a martial art which originated as a style in Kerala. The word Kalari first appears in Sangam literature to describe both a battlefield and combat arena. Overnight at the Hotel
Today early morning, enjoy a guided trek in Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary (Children Below 12 Years are not allowed). Periyar is South India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary, encompassing an area of 777 sq. km. Set on the attractive man-made Periyar Lake. Return to the hotel for breakfast. Later, enjoy a visit to Spice Plantation followed by Authentic Kerala Lunch.
In the morning you will drive through the countryside to Kumarakom. Upon arrival at Kumarakom, proceed to check in your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure. Kumarakom: Located on the Southern coast of India enjoys a well-balanced tropical climate. Nature has composed its magic to perfection here.
Optional – On the way to Kumarakom you will do a Tea Trail programme (closed on Public holidays & Sundays). This program includes a guided trip through the garden, an interpretive slide show, a guided factory visit, an opportunity to experience the different flavours of Connemara tea. After breakfast, you will be embarking houseboat from the Hotels’ Jetty point to board the houseboat. Climb aboard the traditional Kettuvallams (rice boats) converted into houseboats with bedrooms and attached toilets. Originally these boats were used as ferries to carry rice. Cruise through the backwaters of Kerala. The backwater cruise through the narrow canals that criss-cross a typical Kerala Village, rich with green paddy fields and verdant coconut trees and is a thrilling experience. Lunch and dinner will be served on board. Optional – In the morning Visit to Phillipkutty’s Farm with Lunch The farm is located on a small farm island (approx-750 acres) in the backwaters / Vembanad Lake next to Kumarakom within the Vechoor village limits. The farm is about 50 acres (owned by the family and some relatives) and is the largest farm on the island. The island is a reclaimed property. It was the last island to have been reclaimed in the backwater region for agriculture.
Drive to Kovalam After your memorable cruise and overnight stay you leave the houseboat and will be met with your driver, who will drive to Kovalam and check into your hotel there. Kovalam Beach is a natural bay, sheltered from the high waves. Here you can treat yourself to another Ayurvedic massage, famed for its rejuvenating qualities or simply chill out by the sea.
Optional – In the morning do a walking tour of Alleppey followed by Lunch. Explore the village areas in this walk. Overnight at the Hotel
